The Stressed Prince of Bel-Air...
In West Philadelphia,
Born and raised,
Stressed out my head,
Is how I spent most of my days...
But in the real world:
I have never been to Philadelphia.
Or Bel-Air.
But stressed out my head was definitely how I spent most of my days.
Managing our stress levels is an issue for many of us.
It's important to learn effective ways to cope with stress to prevent burnout and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Here are 8 tips and tricks that could help:
1 Pause:
Take a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness, such as deep breathing or meditation, or even chewing your food slowly.
This can help you calm your mind and focus on the present moment.
2 Exercise:
Regular exercise has been shown to reduce stress levels and improve mood.
Even a short walk or yoga session can make a big difference.
3 Prioritize self-care:
Make time for activities that bring you joy, such as - reading a book, - cooking, - taking a hot bath, - painting, or - listening to music.
Self-care is an important part of stress management.
4 Connect with others:
Spend time with friends and family or join a social group.
Over the phone or Zoom is fine but in person is best!
5 Limit screen time:
Try to limit your time spent on social media, news, and other digital distractions.
Too much screen time and doom scrolling can increase stress levels and make it harder to relax.
6 Get enough sleep:
Adequate sleep is essential for managing stress and overall well-being.
Most people require between 7-9 hours of sleep each night.
Also, try to establish a regular sleep schedule.
7 Just say NO:
Are you trying to do too much?
Learning to say No is a powerful skill worth practicing.
8 Be aware of your circle of control:
If it's something you have no control over, (eg that traffic jam you are in).
Why waste energy stressing over it?
These are only a small handful of suggestions that could help you.
