“The Idea Is To Die Young As Late As Possible”
When I read this for the first time the other day, it really resonated with me.
Here's why.
I have spent most of my adult years:
doing work that didn't fulfill me
working in toxic cultures that stressed me out
masking my anxiety and disappointment with alcohol
trying to out-train a bad diet (you can't!)
lying awake at night stressing about the next day
not thinking clearly
plagued by self-doubt
being tired of being tired
resigned to a gradual inexorable decline until the grave
Eventually, I became ill.
I had become insulin resistant and was diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).
I had to make significant changes quickly to become healthy again.
I needed to become healthy in my mind, body, and soul.
I learned about nutrition, mindset, and how to develop sustainable long-term healthier habits.
Fast forward to now and my life is totally different:
I am 20kg (44 pounds) lighter and
I am healthier than I was in my 20's.
I travel
I do what I love
I have a real purpose
I am fulfilled by helping others
I look forward to each and every day
Death is inevitable. Growing old is inevitable.
But feeling old is optional.
So I have decided:
I AM going to die young, and as late as possible.
