“The Idea Is To Die Young As Late As Possible”

Ashley Montagu

When I read this for the first time the other day, it really resonated with me.

Here's why.

I have spent most of my adult years:

  • doing work that didn't fulfill me

  • working in toxic cultures that stressed me out

  • masking my anxiety and disappointment with alcohol

  • trying to out-train a bad diet (you can't!)

  • lying awake at night stressing about the next day

  • not thinking clearly

  • plagued by self-doubt

  • being tired of being tired

  • resigned to a gradual inexorable decline until the grave

Eventually, I became ill.

I had become insulin resistant and was diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).

I had to make significant changes quickly to become healthy again.

I needed to become healthy in my mind, body, and soul.

I learned about nutrition, mindset, and how to develop sustainable long-term healthier habits.

Fast forward to now and my life is totally different:

  • I am 20kg (44 pounds) lighter and

  • I am healthier than I was in my 20's.

  • I travel

  • I do what I love

  • I have a real purpose

  • I am fulfilled by helping others

  • I look forward to each and every day

Death is inevitable. Growing old is inevitable.

But feeling old is optional.

So I have decided:

I AM going to die young, and as late as possible.

Who's with me?
